    Image Upload Tutorial

    This tutorial will guide you through adding (uploading) an image held on your computer to the AskNature site. This will work for all images under 8MB in size and in a jpeg, png, gif format. It also demonstrates how to crop your image to appear in the featured area of a strategy page.

    1. Sign in or join AskNature. (You must have a profile and be a registered user (member) of the AskNature community in order to add content and participate in the community).


    2. Search (a) or browse (b) to the relevant organism strategy page. If there is no strategy page related to your image, select “My Profile” and go to step 3.

    3. Select the Gallery tab then “Upload Image”


    4. Complete applicable fields. (All required fields are marked with an *). For more help choosing a license, visit http://creativecommons.org/license/.



    5. A thumbnail of your image should now appear on the Gallery page. Congratulations! You have successfully uploaded an image to AskNature.



    Creating a Feature Image



    6. After completing steps 1-5, you might want to crop your photo to fit on the Detail page. Click on the thumbnail of your uploaded image from the Gallery page.



    7. Select “crop this image”.



    8. Use corners of box to resize and move box to desired area then select "Crop Now".



    9. Save cropped image, this time selecting the box “Featured Details Image”.


    10. Congratulations! By selecting the Details tab and scrolling through the featured images, you should now see your contribution. Thank you for sharing your ideas and adding a kernel of inspiration to AskNature.org.
